DJs Fresh, Euphonik Assault Case Reopened
The 2021 sexual assault case against Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane and Themba “DJ Euphonik” Nkosi has been reopened.
Last January, a woman named Sipelele Madikizela took to Twitter and accused the pair of drugging and raping her during a party in 2011. She then officially opened a case at Sunnyside police station in Pretoria.
A month later, however, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) dropped the case due to “insufficient evidence”.
Now, according to reports, it appears that the NPA, along with the police, reopened the case against Fresh and Euphonik last month.
Madikizela confirmed the news on Sunday, 20 February, via a series of tweets, writing: “Case REOPENED! Thank you for all your support. I can’t believe it’s been over a year of constant fighting.”
She also retweeted a thread from last October, whereby she claimed that a “bogus” private investigator from Botswana told the police that she had hired him for the case, leading to the case being dismissed because he allegedly made her out to be as some sort of sex worker.
Neither Fresh, Euphonik nor the NPA have commented on the case being reopened.
